On light load the C38-91 Rotrex is producing more airflow than the motor requires. This places the supercharger outside the safe operating part of the compress map. A bypass valve was installed to elimate possible surge. The unit is adjustable, and has a special spring installed that allows bypassing to occur just off idle. This is a fully recirculating system as all air is vented back into the intake.
